Pitta stands for fire which can also be seen as digestion – that what digests things

Fire is also easy to burn things around them if they get too hot they need to cool down.

Qualities = Hot, Light, Unstable, Slightly Moist

Active in age = 19 – 45

Pitta season = Summer 

Pitta time on a day = 10 am – 2 pm (Hotter, largest meal – less activity – fire/digest)

        10 pm – 2 am (Detoxification, deep sleep, fire/digest )

Pitta Characteristics:

– Medium build- Clear / Intelligent / Sharp

– Muscular – Funny

– Deep set eyes – Independent

– Angular face – Warm / friendly

  • Rosy / red complexion – Courages
  • Easily adapt to change – Good guide / leader

When out of balance:

– Aggressive – Reckless

  Selfish – Manipulating 

– Controlling – Sharp

  • Angry – Jealous
  • Critical – Hateful

Problems when out of balance: itchy, fever, problems skin, stomach problems, hunger, thirst, burning sensations, difficulty sleeping, diarrhea

Balanced by: Heavy, Cold, Stable, Slightly dry qualities

** Eat 3x a day, don’t skip a meal. Try to make your lunch the biggest meal.

FOOD FOR PITTA:

Bitter = all leafy greens, grapefruit, herbs and spices, coffee 

Astringent = legumes, raw fruits & vegetables, herbs & spices, vinegar, apple cider, broccoli

Sweet = fruits, grains, natural sugars, milk, soy beans

Foods for optimum nourishment:

Aloe vera, cucumber, avocado, coconut, asparagus, pumpkin, cooked vegetables, quinoa, soy milk, sweet potato, oats, ginger, yoghurt, milk, butter, eggs

Animal products: buffalo, chicken (white), egg(white only), fish(freshwater), shrimp, turkey

Seeds: Flax, halva, popcorn(no salt), pumpkin, sunflower

Oils: Ghee, flaxseed oil, olive oil

TIP: It’s better to not eat after dinner – But because of the good digestion of pitta, you should listen to your body so if hungry eat something light and small
